Bio
Dr. Samane Abdi is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science specializing in cybersecurity, networks, and applied data analytics. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Cybersecurity, Threat Intelligence, Cloud Security, Network Fundamentals, Database Systems, and Applied Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing project-based, hands-on learning aligned with ABET student outcomes in problem solving, system design, and professional practice.
Dr. Abdi’s research focuses on AI-driven threat detection, privacy and trust management, and network and cloud security. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, contributed to research projects, and serves as an IEEE conference paper reviewer. She mentors students on research and capstone projects, integrating practical experience with theoretical foundations to develop industry-ready competencies.
She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science (Network and Cybersecurity) from University College Cork, Ireland, her M.Sc. in Information Technology Engineering from Shiraz University, Iran, and a B.Sc. in Software Engineering (Honors) from Shariaty Technical University, Iran. Her academic and professional work bridges computing education, cybersecurity research, and technology innovation.
