Stephanie L. Krusemark, Ph.D., has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and brings a passion for diversity, equity, inclusion and student success. She oversees Admissions, Student Affairs, Student Success, and Health & Wellness, providing wraparound support to students throughout their time at SFBU. "I look forward to working with the faculty, staff and students to grow the university and enrich the student experience, ensuring that all feel valued and empowered and can make the most of the transformative, 21st-century education SFBU offers."
Villa enthusiastically leads the recruitment for the Startup Scholars program. Having dedicated over 20 years to the K-12 public education sector, Villa’s transition to SFBU is marked by a profound sense of privilege in guiding the academic journey of the vibrant Bayhawk community.
With over eight years of admissions experience, Smith understands the world of undergraduate students, from first-time college seekers to transfer students looking for their perfect fit. She focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in academia, as well as in her personal academic pursuits as an MA candidate in social justice and community organizing. Smith’s devotion to her students and their families is evident in her commitment to building the bridge between high school and college through clear and concise pathways to a bachelor's program and beyond. Central to her ethos is cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment where students and families are empowered to embrace higher education fearlessly.
Straker brings over a decade of experience helping adult learners access higher education. Her time at small, private liberal arts colleges has given her a unique perspective on the role of education in people's lives, believing education should be accessible, community-oriented, and a lifelong pursuit. With a deep commitment to supporting non-traditional students, she is passionate about creating pathways that empower individuals to achieve their academic and professional goals.
Sheppard joined SFBU as an Enrollment Counselor in April 2024. Originally born in Southern California, Sheppard has been a San Francisco Bay Area resident for over 25 years and enjoys its diversity and culture. He is a first-generation graduate from San Jose State University with a bachelor's in communication studies. With three years of experience in college admissions, Sheppard brings a passionate and professional approach to helping students find the right path to educational success. He is firmly committed to changing lives and setting students up for a successful future.
Cabral joined SFBU as an Enrollment Counselor in April 2024. A first-generation indigenous Latina, she is proud of being born and raised in the Los Angeles area. Cabral obtained her bachelor’s in social science and concentration in Mexican American studies at San Jose State University. After six years of helping unsheltered Los Angeles college students find a stable home, she chose to pursue a Master of Science in College Counseling and Student Development from Azusa Pacific University. She is confident that she will continue to be a pipeline for all students to have a successful, safe and memorable experience in higher education.
As a first-generation doctoral graduate and Bay Area Native with over 15 years of experience in the field of Education, including in K-12, undergraduate/graduate admissions, and student services, Leesa greatly enjoys the honor of serving and empowering the community in various capacities as an award-winning college access and data researcher collaborating towards student success. She holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Development and Change, with a concentration in Media Technology and Innovation (MTI) from Fielding Graduate University. Leesa believes in providing a strong foundation of resource support, collaborating with and fostering inclusive communities.
Mohammadsoltani serves as a Graduate Enrollment Counselor while currently pursuing a Ph.D. in business. She earned her MBA from SFBU before amassing over seven years of professional experience in the business realm. In addition to her regular responsibilities, Mohammadsoltani actively contributes as a mentor and guest speaker, lending valuable assistance to current students in the university. She is originally from Iran and is passionate about fostering connections through friends and family gatherings, hiking and dancing.
Jones joined the SFBU family in September 2024. Although she was raised in Texas, she ventured out to receive her education and graduated with a B.A. in Individualized Studies with a concentration in Digital Media Journalism Design from NYU and a M.S. in Journalism from Boston University. As one of SFBU's Graduate Enrollment Counselors, Jones thrives on connecting with students and helping them achieve their interests and career goals. In her personal time, Jones commits to her hobbies of cheerleading, dancing, reading and writing.
Dhamrait is an International Student Advisor/Designated School Official at SFBU. She brings over 16 years of rich experience to the diverse international student body pursuing higher education. Dhamrait has a passion for guiding international students through immigration proceedings and their overalp with other academic and administrative issues. As a DSO, she ensures compliance with all aspects of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) as required by federal law.
Jimenez joined SFBU as the Front Desk Receptionist in June 2024. She is a Dominican University of California graduate with a bachelor’s in psychology, and has over 10 years of experience in primary and secondary education throughout the Bay Area. During this time, Jimenez provided a holistic and restorative approach to students who required a safe place to learn and grow. Before transitioning to higher education, she served first-generation and international low-income students and their families, assisting them with housing, counseling, health, and other essential services. Jimenez is confident that she will continue to provide an environment where all students feel welcome and encouraged to pursue their education.
