Bio

Dr. Jay Black is an Adjunct Professor of Business with extensive industry and academic experience spanning marketing, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and brings deep expertise in AI-driven consumer analytics, online and asynchronous instruction, and graduate business education. A former technology CEO, Dr. Black scaled a B2B SaaS platform to twenty-five million members using machine-learning personalization and now researches human–AI collaboration in marketing and higher education.

Her research interests include generative AI in higher education, human–AI co-intelligence, the digital consumer, digital inequality, vice-category consumer behavior, and marketing analytics.

Dr. Black currently serves as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Marketing at Texas A&M University–Texarkana. Her executive career advanced from senior marketing leadership roles to Chief Executive Officer of a B2B SaaS platform, where she led growth through recommendation engines, customer segmentation, and ML-driven personalization. Her doctoral research at the University of South Alabama applied AI-based sentiment classification and clickstream analysis to consumer behavior, work that anchors her current research program on the digital consumer. She publishes on generative AI in higher education and consumer analytics and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
